  • CONTROLLER

    The Controller directs Country Casual’s day-to-day financial operations, accounting practices, procedures, records and reports, including financial reporting, tax compliance, cost accounting, financial control systems, planning and budgeting. This is a HANDS-ON leadership position that provides direction, management, coordination and strategic leadership to all facets of fiscal management to enhance the Company’s performance.

    Specific areas of responsibility include:

    • Manage all aspects of the Accounting Department including A/R, A/P, cash flow, costing and inventory, payroll, general ledger, and KPI reporting. Research and implement process improvements.
    • Prepare the Company’s financial, statistical and productivity reports. Analyze variances to plan, forecast, and prior year periods.
    • Manage and prepare month end accruals, deferrals and other journal entries. Ensure accuracy and completeness for management reporting.
    • Maintain and enhance appropriate internal controls to safeguard the financial assets of the Company. Monitor compliance with these systems.
    • Manage external vendors that prepare the Company’s financial statement reviews, corporate tax returns, and other tax filings.
    • Recruit, hire, train, coach and motivate accounting staff. Set and manage to high performance standards to maintain an effective accounting department.
    • Manage banking and other vendor relationships
    • Plan and direct the budget process, Monitor budget for variances and take action to correct deficiencies. Maintain expenditures within budgetary constraints.
    • Coordinate and resolve accounting department problems and disputes regarding systems, procedures or cost centers.
    • Coordinate physical inventories to ensure inventory is reported accurately.
    • Ad-hoc reporting and special projects.

     

    The ideal candidate will possess:

    • Bachelor’s degree with major in accounting or finance. CPA preferred.
    • 10+ years hands-on accounting experience with a product manufacturer, distributor or similar entity, including 5+ years in a management position
    • Solid understanding of US GAAP, financial processes and internal controls.
    • Excellent planning and organizational skills to manage work load and to provide timely and accurate information to executive management.
    • Detail oriented, deadline driven, and focused on continuous improvement.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to successfully lead the accounting team and to collaborate cross functionally with all other departments.
    • Highly analytical and able to find solutions to complex interpersonal, professional, technical, financial and administrative problems.
    • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information.
    • Superior MS Office skills.
