The magnificent 8 ft. 6 in. bench was originally executed in oak prior to 1913 by the Edwardian architect Sir Edwin Lutyens (the Dutch name is pronounced Lut-chins). The 8 ft. 6 in. bench is featured prominently at Sissinghurst, the garden of Vita Sackville-West and Harold Nicholson in Kent, England.

The Lutyens is available in solid teak in four sizes: the 8 ft. 6 in. and 6 ft. 6 in. benches, 4 ft. 8 in. loveseat, and matching armchair. The beautiful contrast of the elegantly scrolled and latticed back and the strong lines of the long, flat seat and wide bottom rails has made the Lutyens an enduring classic.
